Dal Rice Idli Recipe

 Dal Rice Idli

 material:

 • Rice - 3 cups

 • Washed Urad Dal - 1 cup

 • Baking soda - 1/2 tsp

 • Salt - as per taste

 • Oil - to grease the idli stand


 process:

 • Clean, wash and soak urad dal and rice separately in water for 4 hours or overnight.


 • Remove excess water from urad dal and grind it into a fine paste using less water, remove excess water from rice and grind it a little coarsely using less water, mix both and prepare such a thick batter that  When dropped with a spoon, it should not fall as a torrent.


 • To ferment the mixture, add salt and baking soda according to taste, cover and keep it in a warm place for 12-14 hours, the fermented mixture becomes double than before.  The mixture for making idli is ready.

 • Make Idli:-


 • Stir the mixture with a spoon, if it seems too thick, add some water.


 • If you have a traditional utensil for making Idli then it is very good. Otherwise you can also make Idli in Idli Maker and Pressure Cooker.  I also make idli in pressure cooker.


 • Put 2 small glasses of water (500 grams of water) in a pressure cooker and keep it on the gas for heating.


 • Take out the idli stand, clean it, apply oil to the idli sections and lubricate them.


 • Fill the idli stand with a spoon in equal quantity, fill all the food and put it in the idli stand.  Keep the stand in the cooker to cook the idlis.  Close the lid of the cooker, do not put a whistle on the lid.


 • Let the idlis cook on high flame for 9-10 minutes.  Switch off the gas, the idlis are cooked.

 • Open the pressure cooker, take out the idli stand, separate the slots, cool and take out the idlis with the help of a knife and place them on a plate.

 • Take idlis are ready, serve hot idlis with hot sambar and coconut chutney and peanut chutney and eat.
